I hope that if this announcement brings new folks to the site that they'll feel welcome and that they will read my commenting guidelines!
Email inbox: The following groups that I have donated to in the past are taking donations to help in the relief effort for Haiti:
- Heifer International. They already have boots on the ground, due to the existing poverty in Haiti.
- Doctors Without Borders. Also already on the ground - they've got folks who were working as Obstetricians in Port Au Prince doing emergency care now. If you donate to their general fund, it will help not only with Haiti but also with future disasters.
- Red Cross. 'Nuff said.
At the moment, they ask for money instead of things. If you have stuff you'd want to donate, why not yardsale it and send the money you raise to them instead, or donate those items to Loudoun Interfaith Relief or Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter?
