and i know that federal courthouse in the first clip, where the prop 8 trial is going on. it is one block north and slightly east of SF city hall -- where harvey milk was killed, and where so many couples married before prop 8.
that federal courthouse is directly across the street from the back side of the building where the california supreme court is headquartered -- the court that upheld gay marriage on state constitutional grounds, and then inexplicably also upheld prop 8.
i'm not sure it's obvious how close all these places are, unless one knows the area.
the temple of law on the screenshot of the 2d video is, of course, the US supreme court. i've only actually been there once, on a weekend when it was closed and the capitol police were out getting donuts, but i was with a bunch of law nerds who recited their favorite passages from opinions on those lovely steps.
