Markers

There are many historical markers that people use to judge what generation a person is in. Were you born before or after WWII? Before or after Kennedy was shot? Before or after we landed on the moon? Before or after the Wall came down?

On Saturday, I was at the NARAL Prochoice VA Retreat and realized that there's another one:

I was born before "Roe".

  1. 50 million abortions have been commited since Roe was legalized by 7 liberal judges.

    Congratulations!

  2. You need two markers, I think. Kind of like book-ends.

Because I cared a lot about the space program during the '60s, markers I like to use are that I was born shortly after the launch of Sputnik I (October 4, 1957), and before the orbital flight of Yuri Gagarin (April 12, 1961).

You being older than Roe shouldn't make you feel old. It should make us all think about how long we lived without certain civil liberties, how hard it was to win them, and how easily they could be taken away.
