The answer to your question is, "No."
No, I will not primary Andrea McGimsey. I truly understand the anger and frustration behind the question, but I believe that she has been a very good supervisor, this one decision notwithstanding. Disagreement on one issue isn't a good enough reason to primary an incumbent, when she's done a good job on so many other issues.
I do wish she would change her mind on this one topic (and I wish she took a stronger position on Choice, but that's just me), but I will not run for her seat (or any other) this year.
There is still time for her to change her mind on the districts, see Stevens's blog for more info about that.
You've always had a good head on your shoulders, Liz (notwithstanding that embarrassing mistake you made fifteen years ago, as of this coming May). The idea that one vote from a four-year term should prompt a person to seek the political take-down of an overall good party-mate isn't, I guess, utterly out of the question. But this surely doesn't warrant it. Those considering such things should ask themselves if their motives serve a public interest, or just a personal one.
ReplyDeleteBeing a Democrat means, among other things, not always agreeing with the other Democrats. My respect for Andrea isn't diminished one bit by this example.
Oh, in case anybody asks: I'm not running for her seat, either. Nor anyone else's on the Loudoun board of supervisors.
