this is pretty disturbing. when my children were born in 1987 and 1989, there was definitely an awareness that c-sections were being over-used. i'm stunned to see they have increased so much since then. and elective inductions? oh, give me a break.
my son [1987] was born by c-section, because he was a frank breech [butt down, legs up], and the efforts to turn him did not work. daughter [1989] was a VBAC -- for whatever reason, it does not seem that so many people are trying regular births after a c-section.
i'm californian, but neither of my kids was born here. [obviously, too, my experiences were not so recent.] i wonder, as one doctor in the linked report did, if this is a "sentinel" finding and the problem is far more widespread.
