If I ran the circus

A friend asked me, if I could rearrange the Loudoun County BOS races to suit myself, what would my dream ticket be? Caveats: that I cannot change the Republican line up, and that I can't put my husband into any race*.

Now, it so happens that I've thought about exactly this question quite a bit and here is how I would change things, if I could.

  1. Burton (I) runs for Chair. Bellanca (D) runs for Blue Ridge. I think this makes both races much more likely to be won by these guys.
  2. McGimsey (D) runs for Algonkian, leaving Keirce (I) to sweep Broad Run. Let's face it, Pierce (D) is not going to win against Volpe (R), but McGimsey might have a chance.
  3. Dulles. I've got two names in mind. Neither of them is running. That pisses me off. 'Nuff said.
  4. I am perfectly satisfied with the candidates in Ashburn and Sterling. You guys make me happy. Keep it up.
  5. Leesburg and Catoctin are farther off my beat. I'm sure that the current candidates will do fine.

*I love having him home for dinner most nights. Heck, I love being home for dinner most nights. I'm pretty sure he'll run for something again someday, but it won't be this year or next year.

  1. I have to disagree with one of your line-ups..that's Algonkian. Knowing how McGimsey has pissed off her constituents there, I think that Pierce is a better choice. I can't believe I am actually writing this, but .....Pierce may actually be able to pull this off and win.

    Andrea shouldn't be running, PERIOD!

  2. No, Pierce is going to lose.

    McG could have beaten Volpe.

    McG can't beat Keerce.

  3. Once McG's relationship with Casey group is known fully (her campaign advisor is part of the Kelahan shell game), then her constituents should run for the hills. McG is changing her support for the Lansdowne school now that her advisors are representing the Lex site. She claims that she never looked at the Lex 7 site ...when all the othet supervisors had previously looked at it and rejected it. Either she's lying (really???) or her conflicts run too deep and she shouldn't be a supervisor. She is also soliciting donations for Oatlands from constituents who come to see her as a supervisor....she walks them out to the car, and "suggests" they donate to Oatlands.
Finally, her closed door meetings with Mike Turner, et al over redistricting prove she is willing to screw the county to get what she wants. I would much rather have Volpe than McGimsey.

  4. I think Burton still takes BR. Clarke is too close to OpenBand and P'ville developers and both are still very powerful issues.

Higgins/Baldwin race in Catoctin is one to watch if it ever heats up. Higgins has a lot of baggage from his SB days, imo. Baldwin needs to step out into the light a bit more, though - draw a distinction. Does Sally endorse openly? How does that change things?
